Write proposals that the DAO can review, vote on, and execute.

Kokonut proposals are not informal requests. They are the bridge between community intent and executable DAO action: treasury disbursements, farm launches, Guild bounties, Framework upgrades, partnerships, token recognition, and operational commitments. Use this page when you already know what you want to propose and need the correct structure. If you are still learning how governance works, start with the Governance Framework.

Every template below follows the ten required fields used across Kokonut governance.

These templates are governance tools, not legal, tax, financial, or investment advice. If a proposal creates legal obligations, external contracts, compliance exposure, or long-term partnership commitments, include appropriate review before asking the DAO to vote.

Choose the right template

Farm Funding

Request DAO treasury funding for a new syntropic farm, farm expansion, infrastructure buildout, or farm phase upgrade.

Guild Bounty

Request funding for scoped work completed by contributors through a Guild: code, research, MRV, docs, design, finance, governance, or operations.

Framework Upgrade

Propose a change to Kokonut’s schemas, MRV methodology, governance parameters, development phases, or impact framework.

Partnership

Formalize a relationship with an external organization, funder, protocol, research institution, cooperative, or ecosystem partner.

Proposal numbers are assigned when the Governance Guild registers the draft. Do not self-assign the final number before your draft is posted and logged.

Universal proposal checklist

Before you submit any proposal, make sure it answers the reviewer’s real questions.
Reviewer questionYour proposal must answer
What exactly are we approving?Name the action, amount, scope, deliverables, responsible people, and timeline.
Why should this happen now?Explain the problem, opportunity, dependency, or risk that makes the proposal timely.
Who is accountable?List authors, team members, Guilds, operators, reviewers, and wallet addresses where relevant.
What does the DAO pay for or commit to?Include treasury amount, token effect, brand use, technical work, data access, or legal commitment.
What proves success?Define measurable milestones, acceptance criteria, reporting cadence, and evidence sources.
What could go wrong?Include risks, assumptions, out-of-scope items, revocation conditions, and dispute paths.
What happens after the vote?Add concrete next steps, owners, deadlines, and reporting obligations.
Vague proposals are expensive for the DAO to review. If your proposal cannot define its budget, success metrics, responsible team, acceptance criteria, and next step, it should stay in drafting.

The ten required fields

Every Kokonut proposal uses the same ten-field base structure.
FieldPurpose

C. Proposal TeamName the people responsible for execution and review.
D. Draft Start DateStarts the minimum 5-day drafting window.
E. Proposal DescriptionExplains exactly what is being approved.

G. Brand UsageClarifies whether Kokonut identity, name, assets, or public channels are involved.
H. Financial ImplicationsShows treasury impact, payment schedule, ongoing costs, or financial return.
I. Success MetricsDefines how completion and impact will be judged.
J. Next StepsConverts approval into action with owners and deadlines.

What makes a proposal passable

Weak proposalStrong proposal
”Fund our farm.""Disburse $18,000 in three milestones to install irrigation, prepare 2,000 m² of beds, and plant short-cycle crops by a specific date."
"Build an MRV tool.""Pay $1,500 for an MRV agent proof of concept that converts three farm events into valid payloads and submits test records."
"Partner with this project.""Approve a 12-month co-funding partnership with named deliverables, value exchange, revocation conditions, and quarterly check-ins."
"Improve the Framework.""Add an optional drone_imagery_cid field to the MRV schema with a non-breaking migration plan and docs PR deadline.”

Farm Funding Proposal

Use this template for new farm launches, farm expansions, infrastructure upgrades, or major farm phase transitions. Farm funding proposals are highly sensitive because they move treasury capital into real-world operations. They should include land details, operator accountability, budget, disbursement milestones, MRV commitments, SDG alignment, and revenue assumptions.
